TOYOTA T-MATE

With you for a safer journey

T-Mate is a series of systems designed to support you and make driving safer, whether you’re on the motorway, in the city or parking, T-Mate makes sure you’re always in safe hands. These systems not only help to protect you and your passengers but other road users. It’s all part of Toyota’s commitment to road safety and our mission to make traffic accidents a thing of the past.

Toyota Safety Sense

Pre-Collision System (PCS)

Our Pre-Collision System can detect and help you avoid collisions with other vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists. It works by alerting the driver with audio and visual warnings and brake assistance. If the driver doesn’t manage to brake in time the brakes automatically engage to prevent or mitigate a collision.

Road Sign Assist (RSA)

Road Sign Assist monitors the road signs ahead, displaying useful information such as the current speed limit or overtaking restrictions on your cockpit display. The system also provides a visual and acoustic warning if the driver isn’t following a road sign indication.

Adaptive Cruise Control/Full-Range Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

This system keeps you at a minimum pre-set distance from the vehicle in front. If this distance falls, the system reduces your speed and eventually the brakes will be applied and brake lights activated.

Full-Range ACC can bring the vehicle to a complete stop should the preceding vehicle stop ahead. A small input on the accelerator pedal or ACC switch will re-enable the system.

If your car is equipped with Road Sign Assist (RSA), this system will also recognise speed limits on your driving route and suggest any necessary adjustments.

Lane Trace Assist (LTA)

Our Lane Trace Assist System is designed to make motorway driving safer. It keeps you centred in your lane and if you start to drift from it, steering assist will gently steer your car to correct its course.

Automatic High Beam  (AHB)

The Automatic High Beam system looks down the road to see oncoming headlights. If it detects headlights, it automatically turns off the high beams and engages low beams. When the headlights pass, the system automatically switches to high beams again. The result? Safer night-time driving for you and other road users.

Emergency Driving Stop System (EDSS)

If the system detects no driver input for some time, audible warnings will alert the driver. If no further inputs are detected, EDSS brings the vehicle to a gradual stop while keeping it safely in lane. Hazard lights are activated to warn other road users, and doors are unlocked to allow emergency services easy access if required.

Parking is easier and safer with this system which combines the images from four cameras to create an almost 360° view of your surroundings.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert With Automatic Braking (RCTAB)

When you’re backing out of a parking space, this system will identify any vehicles approaching from the left or right, alert you to them and apply the brakes to help to avoid a collision.

Safe Exit Assist (SEA)

This system uses the Blind Spot Monitor radar to help prevent a collision between an occupant's opened door and a vehicle or cyclist approaching from behind. If there is a risk of a collision, indicators illuminate on the outer mirrors and multi-information display, together with an audible buzzer to alert occupants.

Rear Seat Reminder System (RSRS)

This system alerts the driver with a warning in the cockpit meter if a passenger or object is left on the rear seat when leaving the car.

Subject to model, after locking the vehicle, the hazard lamps and an audible warning buzzer are activated.

DRIVING ASSISTANCE

Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)

Our Blind Spot Monitor system alerts the driver to any vehicles they might not have seen in their side mirrors. This is particularly useful when overtaking.

Adaptive High Beam System (AHS)

This system is designed to ensure the best possible visibility for all road users when driving at night. It automatically optimises headlamp distribution, by shading out the area containing oncoming traffic, so your high beams do not dazzle other drivers but still give you plenty of light.

Driver Monitor Camera (DMC)

This system uses a camera located above the steering wheel to monitor a driver's alertness and condition. A warning is delivered if the system detects an abnormal status, such as fatigue. These inputs are used to enhance the performance of the Emergency Driving Stop System (EDSS) through earlier detection of inattentiveness.

Toyota Smart Connect – Road Events

This system alerts the driver about local hazards, such as accidents ahead or slippery surfaces, by collecting information from other drivers and displaying alerts on the vehicle's multimedia screen. Depending on the type of multimedia system equipped, potential hazards can also be reported, contributing to an overall improvement in traffic safety.

Emergency Call (E-CALL)

This system allows occupants to notify emergency services by pushing a switch inside the vehicle. In the event of an accident or when the vehicle's airbags are deployed, the system will activate automatically.
